CAT REUNITED AFTER NEARLY 3 YEARS ON THE RUN
One cat that the charity recently rescued has a remarkable story.
Ebony was found wandering the streets of Clifton in Nottingham by a
member of the public who called the charity, concerned with an
injury to the cat’s eye. A volunteer driver took the cat to the vet
where she was treated and scanned for the presence of a microchip.
Fortunately one was found and the owner Julie from Aspley,
Nottingham was traced from a database.
Julie, the cats’ owner, said, “I was overwhelmed when I received the
call, Ebony had been missing for over 2 and a half years, I thought
I would never see her again. I was so upset when I lost her as she
had a traumatic time; at only 18 months she was shot in the eye and
had a pellet removed from her brain. Despite the loss of sight in
one eye she lived life to the full before going missing in early
2005”.
Jon Beresford, a trustee and volunteer animal rescuer for the
charity said, “If pet owners ever want an example of why it is so
important to microchip a loved pet, then Ebony is a fine example of
how these inexpensive little chips embedded under the pet’s skin can
reunite it with their loved one. If only every owner chipped their
pet as Julie had, then we could reunite more cats and dogs with
their owners and this would save us a huge amount of volunteers’
time, effort and the charity’s money. Currently we have over 20
unchipped cats that have recovered from injuries and are ready for
loving homes”.
