Your Letters
Mad on Max
Just before
Xmas, my father sadly died and my mother lost her companion of over 60
years. In January, a 12 month old Yorkshire terrier cross was found
wandering the streets of Nottingham in search of a friend. One look at
the photos of ‘Max’ was all it took for my mother to fall in love
again. Max is a lively dog who is full of fun and he and my mother
make a great team. Heartfelt thanks goes to all, especially to Jackie,
who made this new partnership possible and have provided my mother
with the best possible reason to look forward to tomorrow.
Best
wishes from Jerry Roberts and all the family
Dear AARU,
Please find enclosed a £5 cheque.
Recently, I received a letter from you to inform me of the great
news that “Tom”, the dog I found in Kirkby with the lame leg, has
been rehomed with a lovely lady in Surrey.
I am so pleased that Tom was placed in such caring hands and now has
the life he so deserves.
Thank you for your kindness. I hope my cheque goes a small way in
showing my appreciation for your worthy cause.
With best regards,
Alison Williams
Many thanks for your generosity, Alison. Your good wishes mean a lot
to the volunteers here at AARU who do their best to help animals and
birds in need.
Dear AARU,
I’m enclosing an additional £20 donation this month, with a request
that you mention Sammy, who was rescued in August 2005, but sadly
passed away on November 18th – without ever having the chance to be
rehomed.
I won’t ever forget his little face.
Karen
PS You named him Tigger.
We haven’t forgotten that gentle little boy either, Karen. He may
not have had the chance to be adopted, but we remember how loved he
was by you. His time in your foster care was a happy one, and we
know he would have really appreciated being taken in and cared for.
It was such a shock when he passed away, but you made sure that he
was dearly loved during the time he was there. Thank you for all the
kindness you showed. him. I must admit that I shed some tears when I
read your letter. He really got to all of us, but to you especially.
He was such a sweet lad. Thank you for your generosity, which will
help us to help other cats like Sammy.
Dear AARU,
We called your Rescue Unit on Friday, 21st July. Your driver
collected a white and brown cat from my mother’s address.
She feeds several cats, but this one that had appeared couldn’t eat
without crying out. He would drink some milk and take a bit of
braising steak if hand-fed, but then I noticed blood oozing from his
mouth. I rang your Unit, but sadly, on the following Tuesday, I
discovered that the vet had to put him to sleep as he had FIV and
cancer of the mouth. Poor little thing. At least he is not suffering
now, although he was such a lovely cat.
You do a fine job. Keep up the good work. Donation of £40 enclosed -
£20 from me and £20 from my mum.

Dear AARU Adoption Team,
Thanks so much for allowing us to adopt Ralph, now known as Orlando.
He has been with us for just over a week now and has brought much
joy and pleasure to our lives in just this short time.
Orlando is a sweet and loving cat with bags of energy, and tiny bit
of Marmalade devil.
Many thanks again for allowing us to bring this very special chap
into our lives.

Dear AARU,
Millie is settling down well, has calmed down a lot and getting used
to her new surroundings. She is learning to play with a ball and
hammers the life out of her rag bone! She is going to make a super
dog once she gets over her insecurity.
We’ve registered her with Mr Reeves who suggests having her spayed
in 2 months’ time. We are also going to have her "chipped". She’s
been wormed and has a pass with flying colours with Mr Reeves, who
checked her over.
We love her to bits, and I can assure you that she couldn’t have a
better home, as Mr Reeves will verify.
Regards, Sue
Dear AARU,
I’m writing to pass on the sad news that our cat, Spencer, who we
adopted from you just over two years ago, passed away recently. It
was very sudden and we’re still trying to come to terms with it, but
he didn’t suffer for long and so we have that, at least, to be
thankful for. His FIV meant that his condition deteriorated quickly
after he developed a bladder infection and he became so poorly that
there was just nothing that could be done for him.
We’d like to thank AARU for bringing us and Spencer together: he had
a very distinct character and a wonderfully laid back nature and
made us laugh every day with his antics. The flat now feels very
empty without him and it’s hard to accept that he won’t be coming
back. But, although we’re very sad to have lost him, we’re grateful
for the time that we had together. He enriched our lives more than
it’s possible to say here.
We’ve enclosed a note for Jackie, the lady who fostered Spencer
before we adopted him, which I’d be grateful if you could pass on.
We’ve lost her address and she was very attached to Spencer so we’d
like to let her know.
Best wishes, Nick Dewhurst & Vicki Wollerton
